We need your assistance for this too is your community, you and your children’s environment and home.

D&L Canal Trail and the Hugh Moore National Canal Museum
The Earth Stewards of Palmer is a volunteer chapter of the D&L team. We perform light maintenance of the D&L Trail from Hope Road to Riverview Park clearing fallen trees, removing of shrubs and tall grass and some additional trail maintenance including removing litter, tires and other items from both the trail and the adjacent canal. We clear the waterway adjacent to the locks to ensure a flow of water into and thru the canal.

Wildlands Conservancy
Established 1973 to protect the land that makes Eastern Pennsylvania beautiful to behold. They preserve nature, improve stream miles, develop trail systems and restore wildlife habitats. They engage, educate, and inspire bringing people and places closer together and create lasting connections to nature.

We schedule periodic litter removal from the portal roadways into Palmer (Glendon Bridge north to Freemansburg Ave; Rts 248 & 22 interchange; Greenwood Ave; Tatamy Road; Hackett Avenue and other sites. During 2024 the Earth Stewards of Palmer removed just over 3 tons of litter from the Township’s roadways and trails.

Trout Unlimited
The Earth Stewards works in close association with the local Trout Unlimited Chapter in Stockertown. We engage with Trout Unlimited during their annual Bushkill Drive Cleanup. 2024 this joint effort cleared five hundred pounds of litter from Bushkill Drive between Main Street, Tatamy and 13th Street in Easton.

EARTH STEWARDS OF PALMER – “PALMER PROUD” PRESENTATION BEFORE THE EASTON KIWANIS CLUB
The Earth Stewards of Palmer recently introduced themselves to the Easton Kiwanis Club. During this presentation they outlined what the Earth Stewards do, who they affiliate with, and discussed the need for interfacing with as many groups and organizations as possible to ensure that the Lehigh Valley, in general, remains a viable location to live, work and play. They outlined their “Palmer Proud Program” scheduled for Saturday, 23 August 2025. If you would like to learn more about the Earth Stewards and “Palmer Proud,” please go to:

PROPER DISPOSAL OF YOUR DOG’S LITTER
Palmer’s trails are used by a multitude of people, most do not have dogs and thus are not enthralled by finding dog litter on nor adjacent to the trails. As a dog owner, be responsible and respectful of others. Do pick up your dog litter and properly dispose of it. Business and Industry of Palmer (BIP) has provided dog litter collection sites and bags. Get to know where these bags and collection sites are as well as all Township provided barrels along the trails. Whatever you do, think and then act. Throwing of the litter and its bag into the woods or waterways is not a healthy nor safe way of disposing of same.
